Nearsightedness
Myopia
An optical error of the eye that blurs the distance vision. Caused by the eye being too long and/or the
cornea being too steep. Light coming into the eye is improperly focused in front of the retina, instead of
directly on the retina for clear vision.
Glasses or contact lenses that properly focus light back to the retina correct this optical error.
This can also be corrected by re-shaping the cornea at the front of the eye with Laser Eye Surgery.
